Ocean Springs Senior Center Celebrates November with Heart and Purpose

Community Action brings connection and care every day!

The mornings at the Ocean Springs Senior Center begin with the sound of laughter, the shuffle of feet, and the familiar rhythm of friendship. November has arrived, and with it comes a full schedule of wellness, learning, and joy designed to keep hearts young and spirits strong.

A Month Filled with Energy and Encouragement

Each week starts with movement and ends with memories. Exercise and Tai Chi classes fill the mornings, keeping everyone strong and steady. These moments of wellness are more than just workouts—they are shared victories, reminders that every day is a gift to be celebrated.

The Memory Café with the Ocean Springs Library invites seniors to connect through stories and conversation. The American Cancer Society, Gulf Coast Center for Non-Violence, and Senior Medicare Patrol all visit throughout the month, bringing education and encouragement that empower participants to live informed and healthy lives.

And yes…Peanut Butter Day makes a sweet return, reminding everyone that the smallest joys often bring the biggest smiles!

Gratitude and Celebration

November is a time to reflect, and the Center honors that with heartfelt gatherings. Gary from Humana leads the November Birthday Celebration, a cheerful morning filled with music, cake, and laughter. That same day, the Center pauses to recognize and thank our veterans, the men and women who gave so much so others could live free.

The Art Show transforms creativity into connection, filling the room with color and pride. Visits from Legacy Hospice, Sunplex, and Sage Health Care remind everyone that compassion and care are part of what makes Ocean Springs special.

Knowledge That Protects and Inspires

Learning never stops here. Danielle from the Senior Medicare Patrol shares vital tips on telehealth fraud and scams, empowering seniors to stay safe in an increasingly digital world. Fire Chief A.J. Fitch from the Ocean Springs Fire Department visits to teach fire safety, ensuring everyone feels confident and protected in their homes.

Later in the month, Paige from SMPDD leads the Healthy You program, helping attendees stay focused on personal wellness through practical steps and encouragement.

Bridging Generations Through Technology and Care

On November 12, Tech Day takes over the Center as Ashley from the Ocean Springs Library helps seniors learn to navigate smartphones, tablets, and computers. The excitement in the room is matched only by the smiles of success as technology opens new doors for communication and connection.

That same day, Hoop Cares visits to bring warmth and compassion, ensuring that every person feels seen, valued, and supported.

Thanksgiving Spirit All Month Long

Though the Center closes on Thanksgiving Day, the spirit of togetherness never ends. Every handshake, every story shared over coffee, every gentle word of encouragement continues to ripple beyond the Center’s walls.
