October 2025 Activities at the Moss Point Senior Center

Senior fun all month long

October 2025 activity calendar for the Moss Point Senior Center showing daily programs, special events, and wellness activities

Community Action of South Mississippi has another exciting month of activities planned for October. From exercise and games to special themed days, the Moss Point Senior Center continues to be a place where friends gather, stay active, and enjoy community togetherness.

A Month Full of Fun and Friendship

The calendar is packed with activities designed to keep both mind and body moving. Regular favorites like Wii exercise, walking and stretching sessions, and chair exercises help participants stay healthy and engaged. These fitness activities are scheduled throughout the week so seniors can build a routine that works for them, whether that means joining a morning stretch session or getting competitive with a round of Wii bowling after lunch.

Social favorites such as corn hole, table games, and balloon volleyball create laughter and connection throughout the week. These activities bring people together who might otherwise spend the day at home alone. For many participants, the Moss Point Senior Center is not just a place to play games; it is the center of their social life and a place where lasting friendships are built one afternoon at a time.

Seniors can also look forward to creative and educational activities, including Arts and Crafts at the Jackson-George Library on October 13 and Medicare Trivia with Cindy from Aetna on October 16. These programs give participants a chance to learn something new, ask questions about their health coverage, and express themselves creatively, all in a relaxed, supportive setting.

Highlights for October

Beyond the daily programming, October features several standout events that bring extra energy and excitement to the center. These are the kind of days that people circle on the calendar, and they are open to all registered participants.

  • Cruisin' with Community Action — October 6, 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Bring your bag chairs and enjoy the sights and sounds of downtown Moss Point as part of the city's Cruisin' The River City festivities. This annual event draws crowds from across Jackson County, and the Moss Point Senior Center always has a strong showing.
  • New Year Extravaganza — October 10. A lively celebration where seniors are encouraged to wear pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event combines music, fellowship, and awareness in a way that honors survivors and encourages everyone to prioritize their health.
  • Old Settler's Day — October 23 at the Jackson County Fairgrounds. A community favorite that connects local seniors with city and county programs while enjoying food, music, and fun. This is one of the biggest annual outings for our senior center participants and a great way to connect with services and resources from across the region.
  • Penny Auction with Jeff from Humana — October 30 at 10:30 AM. An event filled with prizes, laughter, and friendly competition. Jeff's penny auctions are always a crowd favorite and give participants a chance to win small prizes while enjoying a morning of fun.
  • Fall Fun Friday — October 31. Seniors are invited to bring sweets to share and close out the month with fall themed games and fellowship. It is a lighthearted way to wrap up a full month and head into November with good memories.

Always Something to Look Forward To

Other weekly and biweekly favorites include Rev. Stallworth's devotionals, basketball shootouts, GCCFN programs, and movie days. Many of these events encourage physical activity, creative thinking, and social engagement; all key parts of maintaining wellness and quality of life for our senior community.

The consistency of the programming is one of the things that makes the Moss Point Senior Center so valuable. Participants know that every Monday starts with exercise. They know that Wednesdays bring devotionals and fellowship. They know that Fridays often end with something fun and social. That kind of structure gives seniors something to look forward to every single day, and research consistently shows that regular social engagement is one of the most important factors in healthy aging.

Transportation is also available for registered participants who need a ride to and from the center. CASOMS operates wheelchair accessible vehicles throughout Jackson County, and rides can be requested at least 48 hours in advance by contacting the center or submitting a request through the CASOMS website.
