Moss Point Is Bringing the Energy
At the Moss Point Senior Center, Mondays and Wednesdays start with Chair Exercise. Tuesdays belong to Rev. Stallworth and the Wii, giving folks a reason to show up and stay sharp. Throw in Corn Hole, Bowling, and Bingo, and you've got a rhythm that works.
But that is just the start.
On July third, it's all about Ice Cream Sundaes. On the tenth, Aetna drops in at ten thirty. Bowling rolls in on the eleventh. The twenty second brings Chef Nino and TDM Tech to the Pascagoula Street Center. And to finish the month strong, there is Bingo with Brandy and a Penny Auction with Jeff.
Every week offers something new. This is not a place people come to sit around. It is a place they come to live. The consistency of the programming gives participants something to look forward to every single day, and the variety keeps things fresh enough that regulars never feel like they are going through the motions.
Ocean Springs Stays Consistent and Strong
The WJC calendar is locked in. Nine o'clock exercise opens every weekday. After that, it is a blend of education, outreach, and fun. Charlotte from the Gulf Coast Center for Non Violence stops in early in the month. Tai Chi with Angela brings calm to the middle of the week. There is Pharmacy Fraud prevention, Medicare education, tech sessions with the library, and visits from local organizations like Hoop Cares and Singing River Hospice.
And yes, there is ice cream on the calendar. July eighteenth. Mark it.
From Penny Auctions to memory cafés, every event is intentional. These programs are not an afterthought. They are built to matter. The Ocean Springs center has become a trusted space where seniors know they will be welcomed, heard, and engaged every time they walk through the door.
Tech Day with Ashley from the library continues to be one of the most popular recurring programs. Seniors get patient, one on one help with smartphones, tablets, and computers. For many participants, this is the support that keeps them connected to family members, medical providers, and the broader world. That kind of digital confidence changes lives.
This Is Community in Motion
These centers are more than rooms and tables. They are places where seniors find purpose, build friendships, and stay sharp. There is no cost to care. Just show up. New participants are welcome at any time, and registration takes just a few minutes with a Consumer Information Form, an emergency contact, and a list of current medications.
Transportation is available for registered participants throughout Jackson County. All CASOMS buses are ADA compliant with wheelchair and walker lifts, and rides can be requested at least 48 hours in advance. A nutritious congregate meal is served every weekday at both locations, prepared by Trio food service and designed to meet one third of daily nutritional requirements.
Check the bulletin board often. The calendar is full, but the doors are always open for more.
