March 2026 Activities at Our Senior Centers

Spring is here, and both centers are bringing a full month of wellness, connection, and celebration to Jackson County seniors

As spring begins along the Gulf Coast, Community Action of South Mississippi is proud to share a full month of engaging programming at both the Ocean Springs Senior Center and the EJC Senior Center in Moss Point. March 2026 reflects our continued commitment to promoting wellness, connection, and meaningful engagement for older adults throughout Jackson County.

Both centers are open Monday through Friday and serve adults ages 60 and older. There is no fee to participate, donations are accepted but never required, and a nutritious congregate meal is served daily. Transportation is available for registered participants throughout Jackson County on ADA compliant vehicles with wheelchair and walker lifts.

Ocean Springs Senior Center

At the Ocean Springs Senior Center, located at 514 Washington Avenue, participants can expect a consistent rhythm of daily exercise, Tai Chi, and structured wellness activities that encourage mobility and strength. In addition to physical activity, the center will host educational sessions with community partners, including health related presentations and Medicare information designed to help seniors make informed decisions about their care.

Tech Day on March 18 offers participants the opportunity to learn and ask questions about smartphones, tablets, and computers in a supportive setting with patient, one on one help from Ashley at the Ocean Springs Library. The Memory Café returns this month as well, providing a safe and welcoming space for seniors experiencing memory challenges and their caregivers to connect and share.

The Spring Fling on March 19 at the Civic Center in Pascagoula provides a festive gathering that brings the broader senior community together from across Jackson County. This is one of the most anticipated events of the spring season and a great chance to meet participants from other CASOMS programs.

VITA free tax preparation is also available this month. On March 10, participants will meet at Citizens' Bank at 2702 Bienville Boulevard. On March 11, tax preparation takes place at the Ocean Springs Library, located behind the Senior Center. Both sessions are free and open to qualifying individuals.

Some events are at alternate locations this month. On March 10, activities are at Citizens' Bank on Bienville Boulevard. On March 11, activities are at the Ocean Springs Library behind the Senior Center. Contact the center directly for details. The Ocean Springs Senior Center is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

EJC Moss Point Senior Center

Across the county in Moss Point, the EJC Senior Center at 5343 Jefferson Street continues to provide a strong lineup of programs focused on both recreation and fellowship. March activities include chair exercise, walking and stretching, interactive games, arts and crafts, and group activities that foster social connection.

Special events this month include the Spring Fling at the Jackson County Fairground on March 19 from 9:00 AM until 2:00 PM, as well as a Penny Auction on March 26 at 10:30 AM. Participants are also invited to wear green on March 17 in celebration of St. Patrick's Day.

Rev. Stallworth continues to lead devotionals and exercise sessions throughout the week, and Bingo remains a Friday staple. The daily rhythm at the Moss Point center gives participants something to count on every single day, which is one of the most important factors in healthy aging. Knowing there is a reason to get up, get dressed, and get out the door makes a real difference.

Transportation will not be provided to or from the Moss Point center on March 12 and March 13. For additional information, contact Lydia Clay at (228) 471-1243 or lclay@casoms.org.

A Place to Belong

Community Action of South Mississippi remains committed to providing structured, welcoming environments where seniors can maintain active lifestyles, build friendships, and access valuable resources. Our senior centers are designed to support healthy aging through consistent engagement, educational access, and meaningful social interaction.

New participants are welcome at any time. Registration takes just a few minutes and requires a Consumer Information Form, an emergency contact, and a list of current medications. Once registered, you can attend any activity on the calendar and enjoy a nutritious congregate meal served Monday through Friday.

We look forward to welcoming participants throughout the month of March and encourage anyone interested in joining to reach out to their local center for more information.
