How SCSEP Works

SCSEP benefits both older job seekers and the communities they serve.

Paid, Hands-On Training

Eligible participants receive paid, part-time, hands-on training at local nonprofit organizations and government agencies.

Real Work Experience

These community service assignments provide valuable work experience while you strengthen your skills, develop new abilities, and prepare for a regular job outside the program.

Help Finding a Job

Participants receive individualized employment assessments, career guidance, training opportunities, and help finding job openings.

Our Goal

Our goal is to empower older adults to achieve greater financial independence, remain active in their communities, and successfully transition into the workforce.

For Nonprofits and Government Agencies

Become a Host Agency

We pay them, you train them.

Become a SCSEP host agency and expand your organization’s capacity and impact at no cost. We partner with nonprofits and government agencies to place qualified, motivated older adults in on-the-job training roles. By hosting these dedicated workers, you empower them toward self-sufficiency while gaining the support you need to thrive.

  • Open to nonprofit organizations and government agencies
  • No cost to your organization
  • Your team gains the knowledge, experience, and dedication that older workers bring

Together, we strengthen programs, advance service goals, and build more resilient communities.

CWI Works’s Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) is funded by a $46.8 million grant from the U.S. Department of Labor. This funding provides 90% of SCSEP’s support; we, along with our SCSEP network, provide the remaining 10% through a nonfederal match of $4.7 million.
